As MNPS prepares to celebrate Teacher of the Year winners from every school this spring, nine of these outstanding teachers have been named finalists for the districtwide honor.
“Congratulations and thank you to each of these amazing educators for working so hard to help our students learn and grow every day,” MNPS Director of Schools Dr. Adrienne Battle said. “Teachers are always at the heart of our success as a district. I’m looking forward to celebrating all of our Teacher of the Year winners this spring.”
The Teacher of the Year Finalists
Elementary Schools
- Bobbilyn Negron, Paragon Mills
- Betsy Vaughan, Charlotte Park
- Alice Watts, Lockeland
Middle Schools
- Theresa Dulaney, Bellevue
- Katherine Thompson, Croft
- Tiffany Wilkerson, John F. Kennedy
High Schools
- Andrea Hawkins, Nashville School of the Arts
- Katie Michael, John Overton
- Timothy Russell, Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet
Support Employee of the Year
Also, three employees have been named finalists for the Support Employee of the Year award:
- Dr. Braina Corke, Assistant Director, Nutrition Services
- Thomas Cornelius, Classroom Associate, East Nashville Magnet High School
- Lisa Griegel, Bookkeeper, J.T. Moore Middle School.
Congratulations to each of these honorees as well as the other Teacher of the Year winners from each school. The MNPS Teacher of the Year celebration will be held Thursday, April 4, at 5 p.m. at Music City Center.
