Advocate and Engage on Behalf of All Children
Family engagement and volunteers are an integral part of education. Our goal is to build conditions necessary to chart a path toward effective family and community engagement efforts that are linked to student achievement and school improvement.
Metro Schools is excited to partner with families and volunteers to enrich our students' educational experience.
The more involved you are in your child's education, the more successful your child will be.
We value parents who can navigate multiple roles: Supporter, encourager, monitor, advocate, decision maker, collaborator.
We Support:
- Families and school staff engaging in regular, two-way, meaningful communication about student learning.
- Families and school staff continuously collaborating to support students' learning and healthy development both at home and at school, having regular opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and skills to do so effectively.
- Families advocating for their own and other children to ensure students are treated fairly and have access to learning opportunities that will support their success.
- Families and school staff as equal partners in decisions that affect children and families and together inform, influence, and create policies, practices, and programs.
- Families and school staff collaborating with community members to connect students, families, and staff to expanded learning opportunities, community services, and civic participation.
From helping with special events (sports, school plays, school meetings), helping with community outreach or providing mentoring, tutoring, or support at the district and school front offices, there are many ways to get involved.
- Connect with your school support organization, or talk to your school about starting one.
- Check to see if there already is an active organization volunteering and supporting your school, and consider supporting their efforts.
