Employment for Metro Students

Imagine being a student of MNPS while also being employed in your career pathway. Through our MNPS Career-Based Learning program, students can earn up to 3 credits while also earning an average of $15.00 an hour.

Career-Based Learning is a proactive approach to bridging the gap between high school and high-demand, high-skill careers in Tennessee. Students can build on classroom-based instruction to develop employability skills that prepare them for success in postsecondary education and the workforce. Students in Electrical class

Student Experience

“What I’m learning in school is what I’m applying here,” said Braylon Gann, a senior in Overton’s Mechanical, Engineering, and Plumbing program – part of the Academy of Engineering – who is working 16 hours a week at Enterprise Solutions, an electrical subcontractor with a long list of recent and upcoming projects in Nashville and around the country. “I’m trying to be a wet sponge and soak up everything.”
