Volunteer

Friends of MNPS School Libraries Volunteers

We seek volunteers to assist in our school libraries with weekly shelving and collection maintenance. We also need volunteers willing to help on occasion with special projects.

Weekly Volunteers

  • Shelve books
  • Unpack and process new books

Special Project Volunteers

  • Assist with collection moves
  • Assist with inventory

Volunteer Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age to volunteer.
  • Complete and pass a background check through PENCIL prior to volunteering. Please visit the PENCIL site for information.
  • Select a school. Please know you are not limited to that particular school. 
  • Complete a training session with MNPS Library Services. 
  • Work with MNPS Library Services to be placed with a school in need.
  • "Weekly Volunteers" commit to a regular schedule for volunteering.
  • "Special Project  Volunteers" will only be called on occasion as the need arises. 

General Information

  • Tasks, such as unpacking new books and assisting with collection moves, may require lifting 10-20 lbs.
  • Volunteers will not be working directly with students.
  • Volunteers must follow all district COVID-19 protocols.
