MNPS Pre-K develops the whole child, which means the program focuses on literacy, reading and social emotional development to help students prepare their academic career. Students learn in a welcoming environment with hands on learning opportunities that are developmentally age appropriate.

Three Steps to Apply

1. Find the best fit for your family by using the Pre-K program guide

2. Gather all required documents

  • Birth certificate or record of birth - Children must turn four years old on or before August 15, 2022 (with some exceptions). Some programs accept children that are three years old on or before August 15, 2022. View the Program Guide for information.
  • Proof of Davidson County residency - Current (30 days or less) utility bill, telephone, lease or homeowner policy in the parent/guardian name.
  • Parent/Guardian photo ID - Driver’s license, state-issued ID, passport or military ID. Parent/Guardian must be present if applying in person at an Enrollment Center.

3. Apply online

  • An MNPS student identification number is required to apply for Pre-K.  Access the  Online Portal, upload documents and acquire a student ID number. You can also call to make an appointment at an MNPS enrollment center. If you need technology assistance, call the Family Information Center at 615-259-4636.
  • Complete and submit a 2022-2023 Pre-K Application online.
  • Families will receive next steps containing important dates for the selection process.
  • Apply for Pre-K by March 31 (3:30 p.m.) to be included in the first Pre-K selection process. MNPS will continue to accept applications after this time period. Applicants will be placed as vacancies occur.

If you cannot obtain a Student ID Number or apply online, contact your nearest Enrollment Center to make an appointment.
