Two Rivers School opened in 1960. The school started with seventh and eighth grades and progressed one grade per year until it became a seventh through 12th grade school. It now serves students in grades 5 to 8.
The campus is on what was once part of the McGavock Estate, sometimes referred to as the Two Rivers Plantation. Two Rivers takes its name from the meeting of the Stones and Cumberland rivers, 100 yards east of the front of the school, and the property on which it was built.
Two Rivers’ vision is to educate each student as a whole person, providing avenues for creative expression while preparing them for the future. Their Every Student Known strategies are centered on leadership. They are a “Leader in Me School,” and students follow the principles found in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens book.
“We teach our students to use the 7 Habits to help them in everyday situations. For example, a child who has conflict with another child is taught to seek first to understand – Habit #5,” said Dr. Shelly Robinson, Executive Principal.
Two Rivers’ school colors are green and white. Their mascot is a pirate.
