"Hear Our Voices Roar!" is the slogan for Percy Priest Elementary students this year. The students created the slogan as an essential part of the school’s commitment to making Every Student Known. 
In addition to the slogan, the school is holding monthly Navigator days to focus on student connections with faculty and the community as well as each other. The Navigator days provide students with the opportunity to share their voices and be heard while also developing their sense of community. This aligns with the school’s vision of striving to become an elementary school of high academic achievement that graduates well-rounded, compassionate, critical thinkers who strive for excellence.
“Percy Priest is an incredible place to learn and grow. The school's community is filled with educators and families dedicated to supporting the development of academic and social and emotional skills that students will need to be successful, lifelong learners,” said Executive Principal Dr. Russell Young. “It is an honor to serve as principal in this community.”
Percy Priest Elementary School opened its doors in September 1957 for students in 1st through 8th grades. The school was named in honor of James Percy Priest, U.S. Congressman from Tennessee’s Fifth District from 1941 until he died in 1956.
The school is frequently called by its nickname, “PPE.” Its mascot is a tiger lovingly named “Percy,” and the school colors are orange and black.
Each morning Percy Priest students, along with Percy the tiger, host the morning announcements, which include a tiger-themed stretching routine.
