What Makes Our School Unique?


    Harris-Hillman serves a group of students who have very unique needs. Our staff is dedicated to providing a comprehensive program through individualized educational plans, various therapies and skilled nursing care.

    Harris-Hillman is very fortunate to have the support of countless businesses and organizations in the community as well as many local schools and universities. We offer numerous off campus experiences through both field trips and community-based outings. In addition, numerous opportunities exist for bringing in activities and experiences for our students.

  • Snoezelen Room - Snoezelen is a trademarked Dutch word for an environment that provides pleasant sounds and music, fascinating light displays, appealing aromas, contrasting textures, and more to stimulate the senses and improve the quality of life for persons with a variety of handicapping conditions. This program helps them attend to, comprehend, participate in, and enjoy the world around them.

Who Attends Our School?


    The students who attend Harris-Hillman School are classified as having multiple disabilities. The majority of our students have disabilities in the severe/profound range and are considered to be medically fragile. Most students require a great deal of individual care in meeting their daily self-help needs. Daily nursing support is provided for the administration of medications, catheterizations, tube feedings, respiratory therapy, and emergency care.

 

PENCIL Partners

 

PENCIL Foundation, a nonprofit organization, links community resources with Nashville public schools. A PENCIL Partner is a business or other community organization that teams up with a Metro school to volunteer time and donate resources that promote student success.
