What Makes Our School Unique?

All MLK courses are either honors or advanced placement except physical education. The MLK program emphasizes scientific research, mathematics, and upper level practica, which are designed to give students a competitive edge in post-secondary institutions. Students are required to take 6 courses and an independent study per semester. The MLK student matriculates through six years of mathematics and science, inclusive of physics and AP Calculus.

Molecular Research and Engineering are two of our most popular programs. Molecular Research exposes students to the world of professional scientific research. The course includes understanding and communicating scientific literature, the grant writing process, modern research techniques, and how to utilize a lab. The rigorous four-year engineering program integrates mathematics and science in a state of the art computer lab. MLK students design and present award-winning engineering projects.

Although MLK emphasizes math and science, its curriculum is very diverse. MLK offers World Studies, which combines sophomore English and World History and a new Humanities course, Modern History. MLK also has Web Design and Information Management Systems, to develop and maintain web sites using advanced software applications.
