What Makes Our School Unique?
We opened our new facility on August 15, 2005 for kindergarten through grade four students. The students represent portions of Hickman, Dodson, and Napier elementary schools. The faculty and staff were chosen from a large pool of applicants who represent the best and most qualified teachers in the city. The “rocket” was chosen as our school symbol because it best represents our school motto to Soar to Success, Blast Off into the Future and Fly to Your Greatest Potential. Each year we have a children's author or illustrator to visit our school for a day and interact with our students. We have had Joanna Cole and Bruce Degan from the Magic School Bus stories as well as Lynne Berry, David Sargent, and Aliki. We believe these visits will encourage our students to become better readers, writers and illustrators.

What Does Our School Offer?
- Ruby Major Elementary provides a safe learning environment which utilizes high quality instruction to ensure that students develop the skills and behaviors essential for a lifetime of productive and responsible citizenship.
- Our school has a highly organized parent support group who are responsible for the wealth of instructional materials that we have added over the past three years. The playground and new covered pavilion, additional music, art and physical education supplies, computers and library books are just a few of the items we now have as a result of the active participation of our PTO.
