Standard School Attire

Female student at Litton Middle School in Standard School Attire

Metro Schools requires Standard School Attire for students whose schools take part in the policy. Nine Metro Schools have chosen to opt out of SSA for the 2009-10 school year.

The move to Standard Attire in 2007 put Metro Nashville Public Schools in step with other school districts across the nation seeking to increase school safety and create a calmer, more productive learning environment.

Standard Attire includes navy blue, black or khaki slacks, shorts or skirts and white or navy blue shirts with short or long sleeves and a collar. Each school may also select up to four additional colors for shirts.
