INSTRUCTIONS FOR TRANSFER APPLICATIONS

All Transfer applications must be completed online. This process is explained fully below.

NOTE: Your application will be viewable by all principals; therefore, if you apply for a transfer, your current principal can view your application.

By applying for a voluntary transfer, you are not committing to transferring. You will have the opportunity to accept or decline positions. The deadline for completing an application is May 31, 2009. Through July 1, 2009, principals may request a transfer of any teacher who has completed an application on or before May 31, 2009. After July 1, 2009, teachers may only transfer with the permission of their current principal. If a teacher does not complete a transfer application, that teacher may only transfer with the permission of their current principal. In all instances, teachers have 2 (two) days from the time they are contacted by HR to accept or decline a transfer. After 2 (two) days, the transfer offer is rescinded. No voluntary transfers are allowed after August 7, 2009.

Be advised of the following restrictions on teacher transfers:

According to the 2008-2009 Educational Agreement, Article III, Section E, p. 13, #2 - 3, "Before achieving tenure status, teachers shall be eligible for transfer only between their first and second year[s] of service to MNPS. Exceptions for voluntary transfers at other times may be made for extenuating circumstances as approved by the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources" and "Any teacher receiving Board-paid training in Paideia, Montessori, or International Baccalaureate (IB) methods, must remain in said program for three (3) years before apply[ing] for a voluntary transfer. This transfer limitation only applies to those teachers voluntarily transferred in a Paideia, Montessori, or IB program after July 1, 2005. Exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances as approved by the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. Other specialty training that may limit voluntary transfers can only be added to this subsection by the mutual consent of the MNEA and MNPS."
