The Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools announces a vacancy in the following position:

TEACHER OF STUDENTS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS

TEN MONTH POSITION

TEACHER PAY EXACT PLACMENT ON THE SALARY SCHEDULE DEPENDS UPON EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must possess certification/licensure through the Tennessee Department of Education in Special Education vision (PreK-12) or Visually Impaired (K-12). Knowledge and experience with Braille (including Nemeth Code), Low Vision Devices, Functional Vision/Learning Media Assessments, and Expanded Core Curriculum Screenings/Assessments are necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide assessments and written reports, oversee and write IEPs, and furnish direct services to students with visual impairments or blindness preschool (age 3) through high school (age 22). Consultation with teachers, school personnel, and team members is also an important component.

Applicants are required to file a letter indicating interest in the above named vacancy along with a current resumé listing the names, addresses and telephone numbers of at least three (3) references, one of whom must be a current or past supervisor.
