The name John Early has been synonymous with excellence in education for many decades in Nashville. Now, with a new building and renewed focus on Paideia we strive to propel teaching and learning through the use of progressive teaching strategies to reach an ever-changing student population.
John Early Paideia Magnet School teachers seek to actively engage students in their learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that meet the needs of all students. Teachers use seminars and Socratic Questioning to develop student thinking skills and appreciation of different ideas; product oriented coaching projects to engage students in problem solving and application of knowledge; and limited didactic instruction to encourage students to take ownership in their learning.
John Early Paideia Magnet is a community of learners including students, parents, and teachers who continuously seek better ways to assess, reflect, and propel teaching and learning.
John Early Paideia is a magnet school and any student who lives in Davidson County may apply to attend through the lottery. The school has a geographic priority zone (GPZ) allowing seats to students from the Metro Center area to attend. For more information call 259-INFO.
John Early is a Paideia school that uses a three-column instructional approach in educating the whole child: didactic (the teaching of factual information), academic coaching, and seminar, which provides a setting for students to analyze, evaluate, and internalize the various ideas and concepts of the curriculum. This approach offers exposure to instrumental music, art, physical education, foreign language, and technology by combining old and new ways of teaching.
