I am very pleased with the program. It's been a good experience for my son, and he has shown a visible improvement.

The state of Tennessee recognizes all of the disabilities as outlined by the rules and regulations of IDEIA. In addition, Tennessee has identified students who meet the criteria of intellectual giftedness and functional delay as having a disability. The Exceptional Education Department of MNPS strives to identify and serve students with disabilities as outlined in the federal and state regulations.

The pages found within this section of the website detail every disability served by the Exceptional Education Department in MNPS. The definitions contained within are taken from Special Education Manual, written and issued by the State Department of Education. All guidelines for eligibility and evaluation are based on these definitions.

To find out more on how to determine if your child meets the eligibility requirements, please visit our "Child Find" and "Where to Start" pages.
